PORTLAND- Linda Davis, a beloved mother, grandmother, friend, and community member and resident at the Park Danforth Portland Maine, passed away peacefully surrounded by family on February 19, 2025, at the age of 80, after a courageous battle with cancer. Born on March 14, 1944, in Portland, Maine, Linda was a vibrant spirit whose warmth and strength touched everyone she encountered.
Linda was the cherished daughter of Frank and Frieda Huntley, who instilled in her the values of determination and love. She carried these values throughout her life, embodying a fierce spirit that was truly one of a kind. Known for her particularity and her unyielding stance on what she believed in, Linda was a force to be reckoned with. Her family and friends often marveled at her tenacity and her ability to get her point across with clarity and conviction.
Throughout her life, Linda wore many hats. She was the proud mother of four sons: John Young, Joe (Cathi) Young, Jeff Young, and Jim (Brenda) Young, who along with her many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren, were the light of her life. Her family was her heart, and she loved them more than anything else in the world. They will forever carry her spirit with them, cherishing the many lessons she imparted and the memories they created together.
Linda’s life was not without its hardships. She was preceded in death by her parents, her siblings, her beloved daughter Kim, and her grandson Chris. These losses left deep imprints on her heart, yet she carried on with grace and resilience, always keeping the memories of her loved ones close.
Linda found joy in the simple pleasures of life. She had a passion for playing bingo, often gathering with friends to share laughter and excitement over the game. Her love for nature was evident in her daily ritual of feeding her squirrels (Fluffy), which brought her immense joy and comfort. She also enjoyed fishing, discovering tranquility in the great outdoors, and had a penchant for visiting the casino, where the thrill of the games and the chance to win at scratch tickets brought her a sense of adventure and fun.
Throughout her life, Linda forged many deep friendships, including her closest companions, Kevlin, Shelly, Richard, Jim, Bob and many more. These friendships were a source of laughter, support, and love, enhancing the vibrant tapestry of her life.
Linda leaves behind a legacy of strength, love, and a reminder to always embrace life with passion. Her feisty personality and fierce love for her family will never be forgotten. As we mourn her passing, we also celebrate the incredible life she led and the countless memories she created with those fortunate enough to know her.
Rest in peace, Mom. Your love has woven an everlasting thread through our lives, and you will forever be our guiding star.
In honor of Linda’s life, her family invites all who knew her to reflect on their cherished moments with her and to continue her legacy of love, kindness, and tenacity. She may have departed from this world, but her spirit will live on in the hearts of many, and she will be deeply missed.
