Janice Florence Walsh, 87, a beloved resident of Newton Highlands, Massachusetts, passed away peacefully on February 20, 2025. Born into a devout family, she was a lifelong parishioner of Mary Immaculate of Lourdes parish in Newton, where she found community and spiritual nourishment throughout her life.
Janice began her career with the Telephone Company, where her dedication and hard work saw her rise from an entry-level position to a managerial role, demonstrating her commitment and strong work ethic. After retiring from the Telephone Company, she continued to contribute to her community by working as a cashier at Whole Foods.
Janice, a passionate animal lover, always welcomed various pets into her home and loved them dearly. Her adventurous spirit also led her to travel extensively, with Europe being a favored destination that she visited countless times.
Janice was predeceased by her loving parents, Francis Walsh and Mary Gertrude (Shea) Walsh, as well as her dear sister, Mary Lou and her husband Alfred Morrisey and their son Marty. She leaves behind her cherished nephews: Al Morrissey, Daniel Morrissey and his wife Alyssa, and Frank Morrissey and his wife Noreen all of Braintree. Janice was a wonderful great aunt to their children, sharing a special bond with each of them.
She also held a special bond with her cousin, Joanna (Flanagan) Mack of Needham, with whom she shared many fond memories and moments of joy. Janice also had many special moments with her God daughter Kara (Mack) Williams.
Visitation will be held at the George F. Doherty & Sons Funeral Home 1305 Highland Ave. Needham on Wednesday, February 26th from 9-10am, followed by a Funeral Mass at Mary Immaculate of Lourdes Church, Newton Upper Falls at 10:30am. Interment St. Mary's Cemetery Needham.
