NASHUA, NH – Stephen J. “Steve” Cunniff, 73, passed away peacefully on February 14, 2025, at Southern New Hampshire Medical Center, surrounded by his loving family. He was the son of the late Thomas and Anna (Downey) Cunniff.
Born in Revere, MA, on July 7, 1951, Steve was raised in Tewksbury alongside his five siblings. A devoted sports fan, he especially loved cheering on the Boston Bruins. Known for his strong work ethic and kind spirit, Steve formed lasting friendships throughout his career. He worked at Digital for over 20 years before spending 37 years as a clerk at Market Basket, where he became a familiar and friendly face in the Concord, Nashua, and Salem stores.
Steve is survived by his siblings: Thomas Cunniff and his wife, Judith, of Cocoa, FL; Mary Squires of Nashua, NH; John Cunniff of North Billerica, MA; and Paul Cunniff and his wife, Sheila Mary, of Concord, NH. He also leaves behind many beloved nieces, nephews, grandnieces, and grandnephews, all of whom he cherished deeply.
He was predeceased by his sister, Sheila Cunniff, as well as his brother-in-law, John Squires, and sister-in-law, Kristine Cunniff.
Family and friends are invited to pay their respects at his calling hours on Sunday, February 23, 2025, from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Tewksbury Funeral Home, 1 Dewey Street, Tewksbury, MA.
A funeral service will be held on Monday, February 24, 2025, at 10:30 AM at Cedar Grove Cemetery in Dorchester, MA. A procession from the funeral home will begin at 9:30 AM.
