Obituary

Crystal A. (Nickell) Coughlin, age 101, died peacefully at her home on February 14, 2025. Crystal was the wife of the late Kenneth A. Coughlin, and the daughter of the late Noah and Alma (McGuire) Nickell.

During WWII, Crystal served as a nurse in the Women’s Army Corps (WAC). In 1995, Crystal retired from the Brockton VA Hospital where she worked as a dedicated nurse to the veterans for 25 years. She was a member of the Pearl Street United Methodist Church and the First Baptist Church of Norwood, and longtime member of their bible study groups. She was a devout Christian, and enjoyed reading, researching and discussing the bible. She also enjoyed gardening, feeding and adopting animals, writing poetry, listening to classical music, and sitting on the porch with her cat enjoying the sunsets.

Crystal was the mother of David A. Coughlin of Brockton and the late Robin and Kenneth Coughlin, Jr. She was the sister of Donna Moore of Kentucky, Bonetta McDonald of Indiana, JC Nickell of Kentucky and the late Kirby Nickell, Noah Nickell, Jr. and Ivetta Bailey. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

Visiting Hours will be held in the Conley Funeral Home, 138 Belmont Street (Rte 123) Brockton on Sunday, February 23 from 1-4pm. A Funeral Service will be held at the funeral home on Monday, February 24 at 11am, followed by her burial with military honors at the Massachusetts National Cemetery at 1:15pm
