Obituary

In Loving Memory of Ida Tramel

It is with sorrowful hearts that we share the news of the passing of our beloved mother and grandmother, Ida Tramel, who left us peacefully on February 6, 2025, at the remarkable age of 99 and a half. Born on June 20, 1925, Ida lived a rich and fulfilling life, filled with love, laughter, and countless cherished moments.

For 55 years, Ida dedicated herself to her family as a devoted housewife and mother, finding joy in camping and traveling with her husband, Claude Tramel. She was a pillar of strength in both her family and community. As a Pink Lady at General Hospital, she took pride in running the gift shop that restored old toys for children in need. After the passing of her husband, Claude, she embarked on a new journey, embracing her independence with courage.

In her early 70s, Ida discovered a passion for golf, becoming an enthusiastic member of the Olivas Women’s Golf Club. She served as Hospitality Chair for several years, organizing delightful luncheons for her fellow golfers. In 2012, at the age of 87, she celebrated her achievement as the Olivas Links Super Senior Champion.

Ida spent many Tuesdays playing at Mountain View Golf Course and Buenaventura Golf Course, fondly referring to it as the “Tuesday Ida League.” Known for her remarkable putting skills, she often emerged victorious in friendly bets for the lowest putts and closest to the pin on par 3 holes.

Alongside her love for golf, Ida enjoyed traveling the world on adventures with her daughters, Kathy and Judy. She also cherished deep-sea fishing trips with her son, Danny, and her grandchildren, Tommy and Melissa—who playfully debated over who was Grandma’s favorite. Each week, she eagerly awaited updates about her son Alan's projects and shared special moments with her daughter-in-law, Connie, teaching her the art of the perfect pie crust. Together, they created delicious batches of homemade jam and jelly each year.

In 2014, Ida embraced her role as "Gma Babydoll" to her great-grandson, Jameson. Their bond was unbreakable, their time was spent baking, gardening, and playing cars in her playroom every Saturday.

Ida is survived by her loving children: Kathy Bence (married to Bill Bence (deceased), with children: Tommy Bence (deceased), Shelly Dykes, and Dawn Bence), Judy Osborne (married to Johnny Osborne, with children: Sean Osborne (deceased) and Kitty Garcia), and Alan Tramel (married to Connie Tramel, with children: Cory Kruseman, Matt Tramel (married to Ashley Tramel), and Danny Tramel (with children: Melissa Melendez (married to Mike Melendez, their son Jameson Melendez) and Chris Tramel (married to Amanda Tramel)). She also leaves behind numerous great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.

A celebration of her incredible life will take place on Saturday, March 8, 2025 at 1pm in the JOSEPH P. REARDON FUNERAL HOME & CREMATION SERVICE, 757 East Main Street, Ventura.

Though we will miss her dearly, we take comfort in the love she shared with us. Grandma will forever remain in our hearts.
