Obituary

SPRINGFIELD – Donna M. (Girouard) Edelman Parks, 77, of the Pine Point section of Springfield, was Called Home on Monday, February 10, 2025. She passed into Eternal Life at Baystate Medical Center in Springfield surrounded by the care and comfort of her loving family. She was born in Holyoke on April 18, 1947, a beloved daughter of the late Elphage and Theresa (Jones) Girouard. She was raised on Marcelle Street in the Aldenville section of Chicopee, graduated from Chicopee Comprehensive High School and lived in the city for many years before moving to Springfield where she lived the last 30 years of her life. In her early years, she worked in the textile mills of Holyoke and later was employed at Brightside in Holyoke. She was a communicant of Sainte Rose de Lima Church in Chicopee. She was a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles in Springfield. Her greatest joy in life was watching her grandchildren and spending time with her family and friends. She leaves her longtime partner, William P. Surprenant of Springfield; her four loving and devoted children, Glen A. Edelman and his wife, Donna, of West Springfield, Tina M. Monette and her husband, Scott, of Ludlow, Jeff L. Edelman and his wife, Sarin, of Belchertown, and Frankie C. Parks and his wife, Carla, of Chicopee; her ten cherished grandchildren; her five cherished great grandchildren; her dear sister, Shirley Eaton of York, ME; her dear sister-in-law, Sally Girouard of York, ME; and her many dear nephews, nieces, cousins, numerous friends, and extended family members. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her beloved son, Scott J. Edelman who was Called Home on March 6, 2008; her dear brother, Dennis Girouard; and her dear brother-in-law, James Eaton. She is now reunited in heaven with her favorite canine companion, her dog Cody. Her family will receive friends on Wednesday, February 26, 2025 from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. which will conclude with a Prayer Service at 6 p.m. at the St. Pierre-Phaneuf Aldenville Chapels, (413-532-9806), 13 Dale Street, Chicopee, MA 01020. The parking lot and main entrance of the funeral home are located in the rear at 20 Lafayette Street, Chicopee, MA 01020. Her Burial will be private.
