Doris A. (Libby) Demling, 86, of Whitman, Massachusetts passed away surrounded by her family on Saturday, February 15th, at Brockton Hospital. Doris was born in Boston and raised in Hyde Park. Doris moved to Whitman in 1964. She was the daughter of the late George and Florence (Barton) Libby.
Doris graduated from Hyde Park High School, class of 1955.During her high school years she worked at Jordan Marsh Department store, where she also enjoyed spending her paycheck buying blouses. Doris worked for the telephone company for 28 years before retiring. She purchased her first car (a Ford) in 1955. A few years later and she purchased her first brand new car which was a 1959 blue & white Ford and let her brother drive it.
Growing up Doris enjoyed her family day trips driving around New England singing in the backseat with her brother. She also enjoyed her frequent trips to Nantasket Beach. She loved the warmth from the hot sun beating down on her.
In addition to all her beach trips she loved taking cruises with her friends. She also enjoyed many years of camping with friends and family. Doris loved bowling so much she joined a candle pin bowling league.
Some of her favorite hobbies included playing Bingo, smoking, attending craft fairs and flea markets, shopping for discounts especially during thunder storms. Doris also became a member of TOPS where she met even more friends. When she wasn't busy she loved walking around the Whitman park, and going to gazebo concerts.
Doris is survived by her brother Albert Libby and his wife Patsy of Phoenix, AZ. She was predeceased by her daughter Linda-Jo Demling, but survived by Linda's fiance' Edward Matthias of Middleboro. Also survived by Sandra Demling of Lima Ohio, Joseph Scott Demling of Whitman, and Christopher Demling of Bridgewater. Her grandchildren Jessica Gabriele, Nicholas Demling, Jacob Demling, Haley Demling, Aarin Demling and her great-grandchildren JoLeah Dacey and James Dacey. Also many nieces and nephews.
Family and friends are invited to visiting hours from 11:00 AM - 1:00 PM followed by a 1:00 PM funeral service on Saturday February 22, 2025 at the Blanchard Funeral Chapel, Plymouth Street (Rte. 58 @ the rotary) Whitman. A burial will follow at Center Cemetery, Pembroke.
