Theresa Ann Martin Mulkey, 87, of the Irwinville, Georgia Community, died Monday, February 17, 2025, at Colquitt Regional Medical Center in Moultrie, Georgia.
Funeral services will be held 2 PM, Thursday, February 20, 2025, at Big Creek Missionary Baptist Church, in Irwin County, Georgia, with the Rev. Ike Thomas, the Rev. Tommy Land, Jr. and the Rev. Dr. Kenny Martin officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends Wednesday evening, from 5:30 PM until 8 PM, at the funeral home in Fitzgerald.
Mrs. Mulkey was born June 6, 1937, in Irwin County, Georgia, to the late John Thomas & Coila Ashley Turner. She graduated from Irwin County High school in 1955 and played basketball, on the court she was known as “Turner the Net Burner”. Mrs. Mulkey worked for Southern Bell as an operator and the Bank of Ocilla for 36 years. She was a member of Big Creek Missionary Baptist Church where she played the organ, piano and taught Sunday school. In her retirement, she enjoyed singing and playing for local assisted living and nursing homes.
She is survived by her husband, Bobby Mulkey of Irwinville; three sons: Mike & Debra Martin, Randy & Terri Martin and Jody & Lisa Martin; a daughter, Robin & Wayne Taylor; nine grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren; and a brother, Jerome & Mildred Turner. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, B.T. Martin; a son, Robert “Butch” Mulkey; a sister, Martha Alice Turner and an infant brother.
