Doris E. Baron, 93, of Peace Pipe Trail in Smithfield, passed away on Saturday February 15th surrounded by her family in Fatima Hospital, North Providence. She was the wife of the late Eugene Baron. They had been married for 42 years.
Born in Cranston, a daughter of the late Joseph and Madeline (Ritchie) Travers. She had lived in Smithfield, previously living in Cranston.
Doris had been a Registered Nurse and Director of Nursing at the Judge Rotenberg Center for 40 years before retiring in 2021.
She enjoyed sewing and knitting. She knitted hundreds of newborn hats and donated them to local hospitals. She was a long time Celtics fan.
She leaves her sons Clifford Baron and his wife Susan of Smithfield, and Craig Baron and his wife Donna of Parker, CO. She was the grandmother of Amanda Oladapo and her husband Eric of Providence, RI, Bryan Baron of Smithfield, RI, Janessa Baron and Kaitlynn both of Parker, CO. She was the great-grandmother of Theo Oladapo. Brother the late Donald Travers.
Her funeral will be held on Friday February 21st at 9:30am in the Anderson-Winfield Funeral Home, Route 44 at Greenville Common, Greenville, RI. Her burial will be in St. Francis Cemetery, Pawtucket, RI. Visitation will be held on Thursday February 20th from 4-7pm.
