Michael D. Genest, 73, of Manchester, NH, passed away suddenly on Sunday February 16, 2025, surrounded by his loving family in the Elliot Hospital, Manchester. He was born on June 1, 1951, in Beverly, MA, a son of the late Paul and Viola (Graves) Genest, and had been a resident of Manchester for the past 2 years, formerly living in Sandown, NH. As a child, Michael was a drum major in the St. Mary’s Cardinals Drum & Bugle Corps and he also played the French Horn. He joined the Navy after high school and was stationed on the USS Nathaniel Greene. Afterward, he attended North Shore Community College and went on to work as a field service technician for Wang Laboratories, Battery Research and General Electric. In retirement he worked as an Inventory Control Specialist for Regis.
Mike was an avid golfer and loved to spend his Fridays golfing with his brother Paul and friends. He regularly took trips down to visit the Salem Willows, Dane Street Beach, and his brothers at the American Legion.
He is survived by his three children, Molly Giangarra and husband Michael, Peter Genest, and Samantha Genest; four grandsons, Michael Giangarra, Maxwell Giangarra, Dylan Genest and Tyler Genest; his former wife, Siobhan Stevens; two brothers, Paul Genest and Ronald Genest; as well as nieces, nephews and extended family. He was pre-deceased by his sister Pamela Joyce.
