It Is with very deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Doreen June Dashnaw who passed
from this world on Sunday, February 9, 2025 at 5:31 pm at her home in Ventura surrounded by
daughters Anne Simmons and Susan Dashnaw, as well as grandson Sam Simmons. Doreen
was born in Avalon CA at the old hospital located next to the Atwater Hotel, to parents Nita and
James E. McCarthy, on June 17, 1933.
Doreen is survived by her children: Anne Simmons, Sue Dashnaw, and Jeff and Tracy
Dashnaw; Grandchildren: Josh (Nichol) and Adam Kemble, Joey and Sam Simmons; Jessica
(Jim) Bobbitt; Jeffrey (Joy) Dashnaw, Nick (Deceased) Dashnaw, Chad (Kimmy) Dashnaw, Jake
(Juel) Dashnaw, Great Grandchildren: Jaycie, Josh, Jordyn, Jenna (Bobbit); Dylan and Rylie
Kemble, Jacklyn and Jax Dashnaw, and Dolly, Dakota and Dallen Dashnaw, and Darla
Dashnaw. Also, her loving sister, Gloria Christine Coulter, and her children Teri (Mike) Tomei,
Tom (Angela) McHenry and Katie (Louis) Borbas.
Doreen and George traveled many a road in their RV across the US and Canada in pursuit of
fish, antiques, golf, and bridge and lots of fun. Mom graduated from Avalon High in 1951 and
married her high school sweetheart, George Dashnaw on September 6, 1951. Dad passed
away on May 19, 2005.
The family wishes to thank the loving care of Livingston CareGivers for their amazing service
the past three years.
Graveside services will be held at the Avalon Cemetery, Friday, April 18,2025 at 12:00 pm.

CREMATION SERVICE, Ventura.
