Arnold F. Kenniston, 95

Dateline: Norton, MA

Arnold F. “Ken” Kenniston, age 95, a lifelong resident of Norton, passed away on Sunday, February 16, 2025 at The Good Samaritan Medical Center in Brockton. He was the beloved husband of Anita L. (Mallon) Kenniston, to whom he was wed on July 2, 1975.

Born in Attleboro, MA on August 8, 1929, he was a loving son of the late Ernest Kenniston and Martha (Pierce) Clemons.

Ken grew up in town, was educated in Norton Public Schools and was a graduate of the Bristol County Agricultural High School in Dighton. As a youngster, he worked very hard, alongside his father, in the operation of the family dairy business on North Worcester Street in Norton.

Ken proudly served his country for six years in both the reserves and in active duty as a member of the United States Army. From June 23, 1950-June 25, 1952, he served in the Korean War and was honorably discharged with the rank of Sergeant First Class. He was also a lifetime member of the Korean War Veterans Association.

Mr. Kenniston returned to his education, graduating with a bachelor’s degree in education at UMass Amherst and later received a masters degree in education from Boston University. A retired high school science teacher in the Town of Norton, his career spanned from 1959-1989 and at the time of retirement, he was honored to hold the position as the chairman of the science department.

Well-known in the Norton community, Ken was a former member of the Norton Conservation Committee, served as a member of the building committee for the J.C. Solmonese Elementary School in Norton and was a former member, serving on numerous committees at the Unitarian Congregational Church in Norton. Ken very-much loved spending time with his loving family, was a talented woodcarver, an avid reader and artist, who displayed much of his work at the Attleboro Arts Museum


In addition to his wife, he is survived by his devoted children, Holly DeLano and her husband Roy of Norton, Dawn English and her husband Peter of Taunton, Heather Kenniston of Norton and Michael Kenniston and his wife Rosemary of Keene, NH. He was the adoring grandfather of Corin, Brandon, Christian, Noel, Meagan, Xinbao snd Xinbei and the great grandfather of Isla, Keegan and Hayes.

Relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend to visiting hours on Monday, February 24th from 5:00-8:00 P.M. at the Norton Memorial Funeral Home, 19 Clapp Street (Off Route 140, Taunton Avenue) Norton.

Military honors will be rendered by the United States Army, during visitation on Monday February 24th at 6:00 P.M. at the funeral home. Burial will be held privately at a later date.
