Obituary

Linda M. Kirk, R.N.
Retired Tewksbury Hospital Nurse

Linda M. (Allen) Kirk, R.N., age 84, a resident of Tewksbury for 56 years, formerly of Somerville, passed away on Friday, February 14, 2025 at the Sawtelle Hospice House in Reading with her family by her side.

She was the beloved wife of Richard A. Kirk, with whom she celebrated their 61st wedding anniversary on the day of her passing, February 14, 2025.

Born in Winthrop on December 28, 1940, she was the daughter of the late Charles Allen and the late Donaldine (Carter) Allen. Linda was raised in Scituate and graduated from Scituate High School. Following high school, she attended the Mount Auburn Hospital School of Nursing, where she received certification as a registered nurse.

Linda worked as a Registered Nurse at the former St. John’s Hospital in Lowell and retired from the Tewksbury Hospital in 2002 after 35 years of service. Her dedication to her patients was unmatched.

Linda created many friendships and memories throughout her time in Tewksbury with the Couples Club crew she met through St. Williams. Taking up golf later in life, she enjoyed playing with her husband, daughter and son-in-law, at many area golf courses, including the Tewksbury Country Club. After retirement, she began traveling with her lifelong friends Julie and Dick Brown. Their adventures took them across the country as well as Ireland, a European Cruise, Hawaii and Alaska. In addition, she enjoyed playing Bingo at St. William’s Church, and enjoyed her yearly mother/daughter trip to Foxwoods. She found joy in tending to her flower gardens around her home.

Linda’s greatest enjoyment came from spending time with her grandchildren. She could be found at theaters, rinks and courtside watching them do what they loved best. Some of her fondest memories were spent during the summer with them for vacation in Wells, Maine.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by three daughters, Annemarie L. Kirk, of Tewksbury, Denise Kirk Driscoll and her husband Dana, of Salem, NH, and Kimberly H. Hillson and her husband Tom, of Andover and three grandchildren, Kirk, Carter and Kate Hillson. Linda is survived by one brother, David Allen, and his wife Cindy, of Jacksonville, FL, and a very dear cousin, Sandy Grady. She was an aunt and great aunt to many nieces and nephews.

Calling hours are Saturday, February 22, from 9-11 a.m. at the Farmer & Dee Funeral Home, 16 Lee Street, Tewksbury, followed by her Funeral Mass to be celebrated at 11:30 a.m. at St. William’s Church, 1351 Main Street, Route 38, Tewksbury.
