Eleanor C. Bowers, 94, of Park Avenue in Warwick, passed away on Thursday February 13th in the Kent Regency in Warwick. She was the wife of the late George H. Bowers. They were married for 58 years.
Born in Providence, the only daughter of the late John W. Smith. She had lived in North Providence before moving to Winthrop, Maine.
Eleanor was the lead hostess for the former Turks Head Building Club retiring in 1986. After she retired, she loved to make hats and donate them to children in need. She loved to play Bingo. She was a member of the American Legion, Unit 40, Winthrop, ME. She was affectionately known as Grammie Ellie to many, and she will be greatly missed.
She leaves her daughters, Kathleen Gould and her husband Ray of Daytona Beach, FL, Maureen “Micki” Gallagher and her partner Fred Stone of Smithfield, Patricia Eddy and her husband John of Walden, VT and Susan Nolin and her husband Richard of Warwick. She leaves her 7 grandchildren Jenifer Dube, Dennis Gallagher II, Jessica Jeror, Michael Eddy, Matthew Eddy, Katie Orabona and Julio Cresci II and 9 great-grandchildren.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Wednesday February 19th at 11am in St. Michael’s Church, 80 Farnum Pike, Smithfield. Visitation will be held Tuesday February 18th from 4-7pm in the Anderson-Winfield Funeral Home, Route 44 at Greenville Common, Greenville. Her burial will be in Highland Park, Johnston.
