Obituary

Robert (Bob) J Wirzburger, 87 of Whitman, Massachusetts passed away peacefully on Thursday, February 13th at home after a long illness.

Born in Brockton, Massachusetts in 1937 the son of Albert and Ellen (Palavancki) Wirzburger, he graduated from Whitman High School in 1954 and then joined the Navy in 1954, was Honorably Discharged in 1955, he then joined the Air Force in 1955 and was Honorably Discharged in 1962.

He was a member of the Knights of Columbus with a rank of 4 th degree. He loved to read and do the Boston Globe crossword puzzles. Bob and Judy retired to North Fort Myers, FL where they lived for 20 years before coming home to Whitman, he volunteered with the Candlelighters organization in Florida that worked with children suffering with cancer, he
organized Candlelighter fun days for the children at the Pine Lake community where he lived.

Bob was married to Judy (Steele) Wirzburger for nearly 67 years. He leaves behind three children, daughters Mary McCann and her husband Jim of Whitman and Linda Brookner and her husband Howard of New Hampshire and son James Wirzburger and his wife Deborah of West Wareham, along with three grandchildren; Josh, Jennifer and Aaron, also his sister Peggy Howland of Plymouth.

He is predeceased by his brothers Albert Wirzburger and Paul Wirzburger.

Family and friends are invited to attend visiting hours on Wednesday February 26th from 4:00-6:00 PM witha funeral service to follow at 6:00 PM at the Blanchard Funeral Chapel, Plymouth Street (Rte. 58 @ the rotary) Whitman.

In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the American Cancer Society.
