Middleboro_____Dorothy Rose (Markiewicz) Friedgen, 97, formerly of North Grafton, passed peacefully on Saturday, January 25, 2025 with family by her side. Born in Worcester, she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Stella Markiewicz. Dorothy was a proud graduate of the former St. Mary’s High School and worked for many years as an assistant to the Judge who presided over the 6 member juries at Worcester Superior Court before she retired. Her beloved church for almost a century was Our Lady of Czestochowa (formerly Saint Mary’s). She loved to travel and especially liked trips to Cape Cod where she could meditate and enjoy the pristine beaches and the beauty and serenity of the sparkling Cape Cod waters. Her greatest love of all, where you could hear her voice soften, her face light up and feel her love radiate, was when she saw her grandchildren and great grandchildren and she would say to them in her last days “ I love you to heaven and back”. She enjoyed going to Foxwoods occasionally, a great seafood dinner at Arnold’s in Eastham, shopping, a cup of Starbucks coffee and a leisurely ride appreciating the beauty of nature which she saw everywhere. She had a passion for music including the soundtrack from ‘ Out of Africa’ and ‘ Somewhere in Time’ and some old rock and roll hits and Pavorati and Andrea Bocelli. Dorothy resided in North Grafton for 30 years before moving to Middleborough to be with her grand and great grandchildren. She was happy there with her granddaughter Christina and family and in that beautiful setting close to Cape Cod. Dorothy ‘Dotty’ is survived by her son, Dale Friedgen; her daughter in law June Friedgen; her son in law Michael Howlett; her sister Phyllis Wielgoreski of South Grafton; six grandchildren, Christina, Jeffrey, Brian, Amy, Andrew and Kevin ; seven great grand children Joelle and Jacob Perez, Jace Howlett, Jaiden Friedgen and Jacob, Avery and Madison Lessor and many loving nieces and nephews . She was predeceased by her sons Wayne and Dean Friedgen; her Daughter, Lynne D (Friedgen) Howlett; her brothers Richard and Ronald Markiewicz; her sisters Lorraine Gancarz and Regina Dirsa.
