Obituary

It may take some people quite a while to ascertain their life’s work, to figure out just what it is they want to do. Not Christie Andre, Christie knew. From the time she was a teenager Christie Andre knew her mission in life….caring for others….to serve and care for others in the setting of providing health care was not just Christie’s life’s work, it indeed was her mission. A mission she gladly and enthusiastically embraced and carried out with a sense of purpose underscored and imbued with the love she carried in her heart.
Christiana L. (Eason) Andre, 39, of Woonsocket slipped peacefully from this life into the loving arms of her Lord Jesus on Wednesday February 12, 2025. Our Christie was surrounded by more love than she could know. That love that was the pathway she took from this life to her eternal home in heaven. Christie passed away after a courageous battle with a brain tumor. Christie fought her diagnosis successfully for many years. She was determined to live her life to the fullest even in the face her disease. Rather than let it define her Chrsite fought tooth and nail with immense determination that lay beneath her happy persona. She maintained her cheerful and positive outlook on life, knowing that each day, each sunrise, every sunset, a laugh with friends or a hug with loved ones is what truly matters.
Christie was born in Woonsocket on May 15, 1985. She will forever be the loving daughter of her mom and dad, Teresa “Terri” (White) Eason and Stanley “Stan” Eason. Christie was a graduate of Woonsocket High School with the class of 2003 where she was a noted member of the National Honor Society. Christie went onto attend community college of Rhode Island and Rhode Island College.
Christie mapped out her life’s work as a certified nurse assistant and caregiver honing and perfecting her skills at the Bayatta Home health care and at several local health care centers including the Ballou Home, St. Antoine Residence and The Friendly Home. Christie’s dedication to her work and devotion to her patients was one of the first things the coworkers and those in her care would notice about her.
Aside from her calling as a caregiver Christie had a heart of gold, correction; make that a great big heart of gold. Christie’s family was the absolute most important thing in the world to her. Christie found time to have fun too…lots of fun. She loved all types of music and sang and danced to almost anything and everything. Some of Christie's best times were going to concerts at Great Woods (or whatever they call it now!) in Mansfield to listen and share in the positive vibes at concerts by her favorite groups and artists.
Christie was an avid sports fan and cheered on, rather loudly, for her favorite team the Boston Celtics. Closer to home down time saw Christie kick back and enjoy her coffee while watching her favorite show Judge Judy as she dispensed justice mixed with hilarious sarcasm from the bench.
It should be noted that one of Christie’s happiest times in life came from what would be one of the most challenging for any family. Christie was one of the primary caregivers for her grandfather, her Pepere Ray Riel. Christie care for her Pepere Ray until his passing after bravely battling lung disease. The bond Christie and Ray shared just can’t be put into mere words. The love Ray had for his granddaughter Christie and the love she showed in return, not just in words but in the tender loving care she provided was evidence of the unbreakable bond that knew no limits.
Although their hearts are broken by Christie’s passing her family are determined to carry her legacy of love with them as they move forward in her memory. They also take extra special comfort in their hope, their belief that Christie and Ray are now together forever.
Christie is survived by her parents Stan and Terri. She was the proud mom of Caleb and Caden Andre. She was the sister of Tyler Eason and his wife Melissa and Mariah (and her “fur niece” Gucci). Christie was the granddaughter of Pauline Riel of Woonsocket and her late husband Raymond “Ray” Riel and Wilbert and Catherine Eason all of Woonsocket. Christie is also survived by her nieces Mariana and Sophia and nephews Tyler, Jr. and Julian and her extended family of aunts, uncles, cousins and many friends.
Services for Christie will be private.
