Obituary


Agnes M. (Thompson) McIntosh, age 87, of Brockton, died unexpectedly on February 9, 2025 at Brockton Hospital. Agnes was the loving wife of the late William J. McIntosh. She was born and raised in Stoughton, daughter of the late John and Mary (Conlon) Thompson.

Agnes was a graduate of Archbishop Williams High School and Quincy School of Nursing. She had been a registered nurse at Goddard Memorial Hospital in Stoughton for 45 years and retired in 2002. Agnes was dedicated to her profession and for over 30 years she participated in the Nurse Study of Health Program.

Spending time with her family, being with her children, grandchildren, sisters and brothers and attending pool parties at her sister Mary’s house were special to her. She also enjoyed swimming, camping and spending time at the beach. Agnes and was a huge Red Sox fan, played Bingo weekly, watched game shows and bowled. She was the winner of every scrabble game and never understood the rule that a dictionary was not allowed. She taught her grandchildren how to play the game Turkey Foot with nickels and dimes. Agnes was a longtime member of the Red Hatters.

Agnes was the mother of William J. McIntosh Jr. and his wife Teresa of Brockton, Kathleen M. Baggot and her husband Daniel of Hendersonville, TN, John F. McIntosh and his wife Mary of Assonet, Mary Gubin and her husband Mark of Wareham, Paul McIntosh and his wife Julia of Plymouth and the late Francis Joseph McIntosh. She also leaves 14 grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren, many nieces and nephews and was the sister of Mary Fanning of Conway, SC and the late Ann Melody and John Thompson.

Visitation will be held in the Conley Funeral Home, 138 Belmont Street, (Rte 123) Brockton, on Monday, February 17 from 4-7pm. The funeral procession will gather at the funeral home on Tuesday, February 18 at 9:30am for a Funeral Mass in Our Lady of Lourdes Church at 10:30am. Burial will follow in the Massachusetts National Cemetery at 12:30pm.
