Gina (Dashi) Nano, 55, of Worcester died Thursday, February 13th at home surrounded by her loving family. She leaves her husband of 31 years, Ili J. Nano; two daughters, Eni Bello and her husband, Kristi of Uxbridge, and Sarah Nano of Worcester; her parents, Kozma and Marjanthi (Totoni) Dashi of Worcester; two sisters, Donika Koroveshi and her husband, Viktor of Worcester, and Albana Xhupi and her husband, Thoma of Worcester; a grandson, Leon Christian Bello; two nieces and a nephew Era, Eleni and Kevin.
Born in Kucove, Albania, Gina immigrated to the United States in 1996 in pursuit of new opportunities and a bright future for her family. Her compassion knew no bounds, as she aided many others in immigrating to Worcester from Albania for many years. Gina earned a bachelor’s degree in chemical engineering and dedicated 20 years of her career to UMASS Memorial Medical School, where she worked as a forensic chemist and lab director. Gina was known for her dedicated work ethic and determination.
Gina was a devoted member of St. Mary’s Assumption Albanian Orthodox Church, where she found community and faith. She loved the simple joys of life – walking, cooking, listening to music, and binge watching her favorite shows. A passionate traveler, she cherished every opportunity to explore new places. Above all, Gina found the greatest happiness in spending time with her family. She was an adoring mother and grandmother and inspired those around her with her fierce strength and loving spirit.
Ili, Eni, and Sarah would like to thank all the support they received from family and friends during her battle with cancer. They also would like to extend a thank you to all her caregivers, especially those at Dana Farber in Milford, for all their efforts and compassion the past six years.
