Obituary

Richard James Foley, 80, of Franklin died peacefully February 12 at his home after a long illness with his family at his bedside. He was the husband of Marie E. (Rodrigues) Foley for the past 55 years.

Born in Cambridge, April 16, 1944, the son of the late Walter and Mary (McDonald) Foley, Richard was raised in Somerville and had lived in Northbridge for many years before moving to Franklin ten years ago.

He was a graduate of St. Clement’s High School in Somerville and also a graduate of Northeastern University with a Bachelor’s Degree and a graduate of Suffolk University with a Master’s Degree.

Richard had been Vice-President of Contracts at the Raytheon Corporation.

Richard was an avid reader who also loved to golf and travel, especially to take cruises.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by his sons, Richard Foley Jr. and his wife Jennifer of San Diego, California and Kevin Foley and his wife Kathleen of Franklin.

He is also survived by his sisters, Dorothea Farrell of Burlington and Jane Keag of Erie, Illinois.

He was the brother of the late Walter Foley, Robert Foley and Alice Foley.

Richard is also survived by his grandchildren, Sean, Alexander and Brooke.

His funeral mass will be celebrated on Monday, February 17 in St. Mary’s Church, Franklin at 10:00 a.m.

Burial will be at St. Mary’s Cemetery, at a later date.

Visitation will be on Monday from 9:00 -9:45 in the Ginley Funeral Home of Franklin ginleyfuneralhomes.com 131 Main Street, Franklin.

In lieu of flowers donations may be made in his memory to the Friends of the Franklin Library 118 Main Street, Franklin, MA 02038.
