George W. Moore, Jr., age 74, passed away peacefully at home on February 9, 2025. Born and raised in Brockton, George was the son of the late George W. and Amie E. (Doherty) Moore. George was the beloved husband for 47 years to Mary Beth (Fahey) Moore.
George graduated from Brockton High School before serving his country as an Air Force veteran in the Vietnam War. Upon returning home, George built a career dedicated to public safety and security. He was employed by ADT Security System for many years and ultimately retired as a dispatcher for the Brockton Fire Department.
Outside of work, George was a man of diverse interests and talents. An avid fisherman, he found solace in the local freshwaters, often sharing stories of the large bass he regularly caught. His skilled hands brought beauty to life through woodworking projects, and he tended to his beehives and garden with equal care and passion. As a dedicated fan of the Bruins and Patriots, George never missed a game. He found daily peace by moseying around his yard or sitting on his deck with a book in hand and a cup of tea nearby.
George took immense pride in his role as a grandfather. He cherished every moment spent with his two grandsons who endearingly called him “Grumpy.”
George is survived by his loving daughter Kathryn (Moore) Mason and her husband Edward of Charlestown, MA, grandsons Ellis and Paul Mason, his sisters Jean Cloutier of North Attleboro, MA, and Patricia Moore and MaryEllen Sawyer both of Avon, MA and his brothers-in-law Sean Fahey of Mashpee, MA and Leo Fahey of Falmouth, MA. He is also survived by nephews and nieces, including his niece Amie Cloutier Goodspeed who selflessly donated a kidney to George 21 years ago. George was the brother-in-law of the late Cathy Fennessy.
The family would like to extend their deepest appreciation to the Transplant Center at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center, most especially to Dr. Michael Curry, Dr. Martha Pavlakis and Erin Sexton. With their compassion and expertise, they allowed George to live his life an extra 26 years.
