Obituary

Paul R. Tracey, 79, of Whitman, Massachusetts passed away on February 10, 2025 with his family by his side. A beloved husband, father and grandfather. Paul was born on February 4, 1946, in Boston, Massachusetts, to the late Joseph and Norma Tracey.

He was raised in Brookline, MA and graduated from Milton High School in 1963. Following high school, Paul entered the Air Force and would continue his military service as a member of the National Guard and United States Army Reserve.

He was a resident of Whitman for the past 47 years and had worked at the MBTA where he was a member of Local 589 for 50 years. He was a long time member of the Whitman Knights of Columbus, Quincy Elks and Whitman American Legion where he had held several distinguished positions: 4 th Degree Knight of Columbus, Exalted Ruler of the Quincy Elks and Commander Adjutant and Historian for Whitman American Legion. In addition to holding these positions, Paul volunteered over 500 hours for these organizations with Veteran’s Services.

Over the years, Paul could often be seen on the sidelines and in the stands, cheering on his grandchildren at their sporting and school events. Aside from his family, Paul’s greatest passions was golf. An avid golfer, he was the President and Secretary of the Casey Golf League.

Paul is survived by his loving wife, Claire M. (Hansen) Tracey and his sons Stephen Tracey and his wife Lara of Chestnut Hill, Philip Tracey and his wife Sandi of Pembroke, Scott Tracey and his wife April of East Bridgewater, Paul Tracey and his wife Erin of Abington and Christopher Tracey and girlfriend Heather MacQuinn of West Bridgewater. He is the adored Grandpa/Papa of eight grandchildren: Ryan Tracey, Declan Tracey, Sean Tracey, Emma Tracey, Cora Tracey, Lily Tracey, Benjamin Tracey and William Tracey. He is also survived by his nieces Jen Hansen of Charlestown, Susan Porter of Hanover, Tracey Mead of West Newton and nephew Bob Morrissey of Framingham.
Preceded in death by his brother Willam Tracey and sisters Carol Roberts and Marjorie Morrissey.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Funeral Mass on Saturday, February 15 th at 10:30 a.m. at the Holy Ghost Church, Whitman. Burial will be private. Visiting hours will be held Friday, February 14 th from 4:00 – 7:00pm at Blanchard Funeral Chapel, Plymouth Street (Rte. 58 @ the Rotary) Whitman.
