Obituary

Retired Boston Police Crossing Guard Supervisor, Evon L. (Jones) Connors, a 68-year resident of Charlestown, entered into eternal life on Monday, February 10, 2025, at her daughter's home in Seabrook, New Hampshire. She was 91 years of age.

Evon was born in Fairfield, Maine on September 21, 1933, a daughter of the late Benjamin F. Jones and Anna G. (Woodcock) Jones. She grew up in Calais, Maine where she attended the public school system and graduated high school there. Evon worked as a crossing guard for the Boston Police Department and served the people of Charlestown for over 17 years where she took great pride and care of the children in Charlestown going to school at the Warren Prescott Elementary School and then the Kent Elementary School where she served most of her career. She retired from the City of Boston as a Supervisor Crossing Guard. In her spare time, Evon enjoyed taking care of her garden at her home in Charlestown, cooking, doing arts and crafts but her she found the most joy in her life was taking care and spending time with her family and extending herself to the people of Charlestown.

Evon is the beloved wife of the late Francis L. "Butch" Connors. She is the devoted mother of Susan Craghead, Sandra Seeley, Wayne Carter and the late Linda Vitale and her surviving husband Tony, and Donna Rusecky. She is the loving Nana Boop to Melinda, Evon, Julie, Darlene, Brandie, Jennifer, Michelle, Ronnie, Anthony, Patrice, the late Shannon and her many great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren. She is the dear stepmother of Peter Connors and his wife Marie, and the late Maureen Connors, Frank Connors, and Timothy Connors. She is also survived by her many loving nieces and nephews. She will also be remembered for her 21 years with her dog Misty.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend Evon's Funeral on Saturday morning, February 15, 2025, at 9 A.M. from The Carr Funeral Home, 220 Bunker Hill St. Charlestown followed by her Funeral Mass in St. Francis De Sales Church, 313 Bunker Hill St. Charlestown at 10 A.M. Her burial will take place at Woodlawn Cemetery in Everett. Her visiting hours will be on Friday, February 14, 2025, from 3 to 7 P.M. in the funeral home.
