“Catherine Ella Chipman” Obituary
STANDISH- On Saturday Evening February 8th Catherine Ella Chipman (72) passed. Catherine
was Born on October 15th 1952 to Margaret and Hanno Chipman. A graduate of
Westbrook High School she went on to work in the Education and Medical Fields
for most of her life.
Cathy lived in Standish Maine and still resided in the same home she raised her
family of 3 boys in. Her Boys, oldest Jarrod, middle child Adam and youngest
Seth all had great memories and grew up playing sports, camping, riding bikes,
summer rec programs, hitting all the swimming holes and living a great life
provided by their mother’s hard work. Cathy worked as a teacher's assistant for
many years. She then moved into the medical field working for the hospital for a
while and then as a chiropractic assistant. She often carried a second job just to
make sure her boys never wanted for anything and every opportunity was
available, she was a workhorse. In her later years she (Nana) loved to get together
with her grandkids for BBQ’s, holidays and could always be seen on the sidelines
of their Sporting events.
Some of Cathy’s best stories come from her youth spending summers at Higgins
Beach with her family. The Ocean was always where she went to seek solitude
and to recharge. Catherine and older sister Susan Chipman were extremely close.
She often referred to some tough times as kids where she and her sister raised
each other which made their bond so much more than just siblings. No matter
where life took each of them they always stayed in touch and got together every
year for holidays and BBQ’s. They traveled to Hawaii, visits to Arizona where
Susan lived for many years and even some RV trips together too.. Catherine and
Susan were still very close and Catherine was caring for her sister Susan through
her current and declining battle with dementia.
Cathy and longtime boyfriend of 20 plus years Eugene Estabrook made great
companions. They cared for each other greatly and helped each other out with all
life's tasks. Both have had many health battles and leaned on each other
immensely through the tougher times. Catherine and Eugene could often be
found at local restaurants (Bayhaven a favorite) enjoying the Local Seafood.
Most of all Cathy was a caregiver. She spent most of her life making sure others
had what they needed. She put others before herself at all costs and without
wanting any recognition or thanks, it's just what she knew best. She took care of
her son Jarrod through a lifetime of mental health struggles and his battle with
cancer. She cared for her sister in her youth and through dementia, She cared for
both her Mother and Father through their Elder years. She cared for multiple
friends who grew old and needed assistance and comfort as things came to a
close. She was always there for friendship, comfort and to make you feel loved
and safe. Whether she was a Daughter, Mother, Nana, Aunt or friend she will be
deeply missed by many.
Catherine was predeceased by her father Hanno Chipman, mother Margarette
Bunnell and oldest son Jarrod Landry. She is survived by her longtime boyfriend
Eugene Estabrook, her older sister Susan Chipman, her middle son Adam
Landry and wife Jess, her youngest son Seth Landry and wife Jan and
grandchildren Cam, Lily, Keegan, Kaiden and Kaitlyn.
