Sylvia E. Sabatini, 81, of Greenville, RI died Sunday, February 9, 2025 at the Hope Health Hulitar Hospice Center in Providence. She was the wife of Mario Sabatini whom she was married to for 36 years prior to his death in 2020.
Born in Providence, she was the daughter of the late John and Concetta (Russillo) DiIorio. She had lived in Greenville for over 50 years.
Sylvia was a Math teacher at Cranston High School East until her retirement. She loved to travel, knit, spend time at the beach and accompany her late husband Mario to the casino. She loved the arts, especially theater. She thrived on socialization, always eager to tell or hear a good story.
She was an active parishioner at St. Philip Church. She was a member of the Women’s Altar Guild, had been a long-term volunteer at St. Vincent DePaul Food Bank, & served 2 six year terms as President of the St. Vincent DePaul-St. Philip’s Conference. She was also a Confirmation teacher and part of the knitting group. Sylvia embodied a very generous spirit, contributing to many various charities and organizations over the years. She was always willing to help others in need.
She is survived by her brother, John V. DiIorio of Smithfield and her nephew: Jonathan DiIorio and his wife, Kelly of Cranston and their four children: Aiden, Keira, Rhianne and Phillip.
Her funeral will be held Wednesday, February 19, 2025 at 9am from the Anderson-Winfield Home, Rt 44 at Greenville Common, Greenville. Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10am in St. Philip Church, 622 Putnam Pike, Greenville. Burial will be in St. Francis Cemetery, Pawtucket. Visitation will be Tuesday, February 18th from 4-6pm.
