Rose (DiCecca) Kayal, age 101, of Peabody (formerly of Medford) passed away on Sunday, February 9th, at Beverly Hospital. Born and raised in Gaeta, Italy, she was the daughter of the late Luigi and Vittorina (Ciano) DiCecca. Rose immigrated to the US and met her beloved husband, Stephan, at Somerville High School where they were learning to speak english. Even though Stephan was french speaking, he also spoke italian and their match made in heaven began. She became a talented seamstress and sewed professionally as well as whenever needed by her extended family. Rose had a great math mind, loved to play cards/BINGO and enjoyed trips to the casino. She was a great cook who loved to prepare meals for her family and friends.
Rose was the beloved wife of the late Stephan Kayal, and the devoted mother of Albert Kayal and his wife Brenda of Arizona, Denise Lawnicki and her husband Dr. Eugene Lawnicki of Winchester, and Stephan R. Kayal and his wife Jennifer of Peabody. She was the loving grandmother of Joseph Kayal and his wife Brandy, Julia Clark and her husband Mitchell, and Stephan Kayal and his Fiancee Christina Pane. Rose was the loving great grandmother of Sophia Kayal and Cooper Clark, and dear sister of Joseph DiCecca and his late wife Pauline. She was also the sister of Candeloro DiCecca and his wife Teresa, and Cosmo DiCecca and his wife Frances, who are all predeceased. She is survived by many loving nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
A funeral mass will be celebrated on Thursday, February 13th at 11:30 AM in St. Joseph Church, 118 High St., Medford. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend and may visit with family in the Dello Russo Funeral Home, 306 Main St., Medford from 9 through 11 AM. Services will conclude with burial at Oak Grove Cemetery, Medford. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be sent in Rose’s name to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, Memorials Processing, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105-9959.
