Audrey G. (Stearns) Nevins, age 94, of West Bridgewater formerly of Brockton, died on February 7, 2025 at Good Samaritan Medical Center. She was the wife of the late Donald W. Nevins.
Born in Boston, she was the daughter of the late Charles H. and Marion L. (Oldrieve) Stearns. Audrey was raised in Dorchester and was a graduate of Roxbury Memorial High School.
Audrey worked for the City of Brockton as a cafeteria worker at Brockton High School from 1970-1986. Following her retirement, she and her husband enjoyed square dancing and also spending winters in Tampa, Florida. She worked at the election polls when ballots were hand counted. Audrey was a member of the COA in West Bridgewater where she enjoyed Swedish weaving. She was a quiet woman devoted to her family and she loved to cook, bake and make ceramics.
Audrey was the loving mother of Donna Bishop and her husband Robert of Easton, Paul Nevins and his wife Regina of Brockton and Janet Cotter and her husband James of St. Helena Island, SC; grandmother of Michael Nevins, Colleen Nevins, Brian Bishop, Joshua Leggett and Ryan Leggett; great grandmother of Hailey and Cole Nevins, and Elijah Leggett. She was preceded in death by all of her siblings, Lynwood Seaverns, Florence Maloney, Franklin Seaverns, Richard Stearns and twin brother Robert Stearns. Audrey is also survived by many nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews.
Visiting Hours will be held on Thursday, February 13, 2025, from 3:00 to 6:00 pm, in the Conley Funeral Home, 138 Belmont Street (Rte. 123) Brockton. Her Funeral Service will be held on Friday, February 14, 2025, in the funeral home at 12:00 pm, followed by burial in Pine Hill Cemetery, West Bridgewater.
