Callixte Katagurutse, a beloved resident of Malden, passed away peacefully at home on Friday, January 31, 2025, surrounded by his family. He was 80 years old.
Born on September 24, 1944, in Nyamitaba Masisi, Democratic Republic of Congo. Callixte was one of ten children of Mukagaga Mukaruziga and Piere Rwasamanzi.
A devoted husband, father, and grandfather. Callixte is survived by his loving wife of 49 years, Marie Fatakanwa, along with five sons, two daughters, and eleven grandchildren. He was predeceased by one of his sons, who left behind his wife and two children.
A Life of Love and Generosity
Callixte was a man of deep kindness and unwavering faith. He dedicated his life to caring not only for his immediate family but also for relatives near and far, ensuring they had opportunities for education and a place to call home. His generosity knew no bounds, he found immense joy in helping others, always offering support without hesitation.
Despite life's challenges, Callixte has remained a source of optimism and strength. He had unshakable faith in God, starting each morning with songs of worship and ending each night in prayer. His parting words to anyone leaving home were always “Wende na Yesu”—May Jesus go with you.
Callixte had a remarkable ability to see the good in every situation. He turned strangers into friends and was a constant source of warmth and encouragement to those around him. His presence, love, and unwavering positivity will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
Beyond his love for family and faith, Callixte was passionate about tennis and was actively involved in a tennis club in Rwanda.
Services
Relatives and friends are invited to honor Callixte’s life at a prayer service on February 14, 2025, at A. J. Spadafora Funeral Home, 865 Main St, Malden, from 9:00 AM to 12:00PM.
Interment will follow at Lakeside Cemetery, 501 North Ave, Wakefield, at 12:30 PM.
