Obituary

GALLAGHER Margaret L., 94, of Needham, died Tuesday, February 4, 2025 at St. Patrick's Manor, Framingham. Daughter of the late John and Margaret (Foley) Gallagher. Sister of the late Mary A. Gallagher, Patricia M. Barnabo, and Thomas J. Gallagher; Aunt of Susan M. Barnabo of Walpole, Mark T. Barnabo of Westborough, Kevin T. Gallagher of Scituate, and the late Michael J. Gallagher. She is also survived by great nephews, several cousins, and dear friends.

Peg or Peggy, as she was known, was raised in Jamaica Plain and West Roxbury. She obtained her Bachelor's Degree in Chemistry from Emannuel College. She remained active in the Emmanuel College Alumni Association throughout the years. She received her Master's in Education from Boston College. For most of her career, and until retirement, she taught science at Thurston Middle School in Westwood.

For over 60 years she was a faithful parishioner of St. Bartholomew Church in Needham. She enjoyed spending summers in Scituate, "the Irish Riviera". She loved to travel and visited many places around the world. She also loved seeing new art exhibits at the MFA, and was a member for several years.

A visitation will be held at the P.E. Murray - F.J. Higgins, George F. Doherty & Sons Funeral Home 2000 Centre St. West Roxbury on Thursday, February 13th from 9:15-10:15am, followed by a Funeral Mass at St. Bartholomew Church, Needham at 11am. Burial will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery, West Roxbury.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Margaret's memory may be made to the Emmanuel College Scholarship Fund, Office of Development and Alumni Relations, 400 The Fenway, Boston, MA 02115.
