LACONIA --- Dolores Reynolds Folsom, 94, Laconia, NH passed away peacefully on February 5, 2025.
She was born on March 29, 1930 in Johnstown, PA, daughter of Harry and Clarabelle (Hassell) Reynolds.
Dolores “Dee” graduated from Johnstown High School in 1948 where she played the clarinet in the band and orchestra. She completed a Lab Technician’s program in Wilmington, DE, took courses at the University of Pittsburgh in Johnstown and later in her life received an Associate Degree from the University of New Hampshire.
Dee married George Folsom, in 1951 in Johnstown, where they lived for 31 years while raising their family. They enjoyed a rich and fulfilling life there and made many lasting friendships before moving to Laconia in 1983 after George retired from Bethlehem Steel.
Dee worked as a phlebotomist at the Laconia Clinic for many years. She was a devoted and loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She was an excellent swimmer and loved swimming in Lake Opechee, especially with her grandchildren when they visited during the summer. Dee was a skilled Scrabble player and crossword puzzler. She also enjoyed reading and loved listening to music. When it came to gardening, she had the greenest thumb and for many years maintained a lush garden of fruits, vegetables and flowers. She took pride in preparing healthy and delicious garden to table dishes for her family.
Dee was very proud of her family and leaves behind many beautiful memories that will be cherished forever. Her love, generosity and quick wit will be greatly missed.
Dolores is preceded in death by her parents; her husband of 42 years, George I. Folsom, Jr.; son, George Scott Folsom, Sr.; grandson, George Scott Folsom, Jr.; son-in-law, David R. Rizzo.
Dolores is survived by her six children, Sandra F. Yaney (Brian), of Albuquerque, NM, Susan F. Conway (Thomas), of Lewisburg, PA, Steven R. Folsom (Theresa), of Laconia, NH, Shelley F. Rizzo, of Sterling, VA, Stacey F. Hartnett (Mark), of Amesbury, MA, and Dr. Jeffrey B. Folsom (Deirdre), of Essex, VT; fifteen grandchildren, Dylan G. Yaney (Dr. Amanda), Thomas J. Conway (Noriko), Joshua A. Folsom (Mi), Emily S. Conway, Conrad A. Yaney (Deia), Bradley C. Folsom, Jordan P. Conway (Sunni), Scott Kelley (Rindy), Adam D. Rizzo (Dr. Kayla), Oliver L. Yaney, Alexa Diamond (Trevor), Madeline L. Folsom, Christopher N. Folsom, Grant K. Folsom, Jacqueline F. Folsom (Chris); nine great-grandchildren, Quinn and Callan Conway, Daniel Folsom, Georgie and Joshie Folsom, Brady and Finn Kelley, Aneira and Zander Yaney; sister, Judith R. Raybeck (Paul); nieces, Dr. Kelli Baldrick and Kristie Flower (Alan); nephew, Dr. Mark Raybeck; and former brother-in-law, Bruce Raybeck.
Dee’s family offers special thanks to her many caregivers at St. Francis Rehabilitation and Nursing Center.
Calling Hours will be held on Saturday, May 17, 2025 from 9:30am-11:30am in the Carriage House at Wilkinson-Beane-Simoneau-Paquette Funeral Home, 164 Pleasant Street, Laconia, NH. A Funeral Service will conclude the Calling Hours starting at 11:00am.
A Graveside Service will be held on Saturday, May 17, 2025, at noon, at Union Cemetery, Academy Street, Laconia, NH.
