Catherine R. (Browne) Shaughnessy, 96, died on Thursday, February 6th in her home, Coleman House, surrounded by her loving family. She leaves a daughter, Kathleen Cashin and her husband, Michael of Boylston; three sons, Thomas Shaughnessy and his wife, Susan of Deland, FL, Michael Shaughnessy and his wife, Susan of Shrewsbury, and Daniel Shaughnessy and his wife, Rachel of Centerville; a brother, David Browne and his wife, Rita of Southbridge; two sisters, Helen Lambert of Leicester and Nancy Morrissey of Jonesboro, GA; eleven grandchildren, Meghan Conner and her husband, Harrison, Mollie Cashin, Ian, Matthew, Julia and her fiancé, Jacob Steinberg, Patrick, Lily, Caleb Decker, Eliza, Greta, and Cullem; and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband, Thomas S. Shaughnessy in 1997; two brothers, Richard and James Browne; and two sisters, Patricia Gaboury and Mary Duquette.
She was born in Worcester, the daughter of Daniel and Frances (Callahan) Browne. Catherine was a devoted, former member of Our Lady of the Angels Church, where she found strength and comfort in her faith. She was also a former cherished member of Immaculate Conception Parish, where her devotion and kindness touched many lives. Above all, Catherine was a loving and caring family matriarch. Her greatest joy was spending time with her family, especially her beloved grandchildren. Her warmth, sense of humor, and gentle spirit will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
The family would like to thank the wonderful Coleman House staff that cared for Catherine during the final years of her life.
Her funeral will be held on Wednesday, February 12th from O’CONNOR BROTHERS FUNERAL HOME, 592 Park Avenue with a Mass beginning at 10:00am in Our Lady of the Angels Church, 1222 Main Street. Burial will follow in Worcester County Memorial Park, 217 Richards Avenue, Paxton. Calling hours will be on Tuesday, February 11th from 5:00pm until 7:00pm in the funeral home.
