Richard J. Flaherty

Richard J. “Rick” Flaherty, age 77, a resident of Tewksbury for over 25 years, formerly of Somerville,
passed away at his home on Friday, January 31, 2025.
He was the beloved husband of Elizabeth A. (Dargan) Flaherty, who passed away on November 4, 2009.
Born in Medford on December 13, 1947, he was the son of the late James A. Flaherty and the late Eleanor (Stanaway) Flaherty.
Rick grew up in Arlington and Somerville and graduated from Somerville High School in 1966.
He enjoyed spending days in the sun at Ogunquit Beach and following the Boston Red Sox and New England Patriots.
Rick will be lovingly remembered for his outgoing charismatic personality.
Family members include two Daughters, Christine Lynch, of Tewksbury and JoAnne Breau, of Andover: five grandchildren, Tara DiCenso, Ryan Lynch, Michael Lynch, Andrea Sheldon, and Julia Ramsey, as well as eight great grandchildren. Rick was the brother of Susanne Blauvelt, of Wilmington, Paul Flaherty, of Soddy-Daisy, TN, and the late James, Robert and David Flaherty.
A memorial Mass celebrating Rick’s eternal life will be celebrated on Tuesday, February 11th at 11:30 a.m. at St. William’s Church, 1351 Main Street, Route 38, Tewksbury. The interment of his ashes will follow at Tewksbury Cemetery, 172 East Street, Tewksbury.
