Roseann “Rosie” (Akeke) O’Connor age 76, died on Saturday February 1, 2025 with her loved ones by her side. Rosie was born in Brockton, the daughter of the late Husep Akeke and Cynthia “Bonnie” (Carter) Akeke and lived most of her life in the city.
Rosie’s career began early at O’Neil’s Answering Service where she eventually became a co-owner. She graduated from Brockton High School in 1966 and continued her education at LaBaron Beauty School to become a hairdresser. For many years, she owned and operated Roseann’s Hair Fashions. After a long career in hairdressing, she retired from the Communications Center at Sturdy Memorial Hospital in 2013.
Rosie shared her love for horses with her daughter and spent a great deal of time at the barn and attending horse show competitions. She also enjoyed camping, bowling, gardening, dancing, holiday decorating and was a lifelong fan of the Cavalier’s band. Rosie’s greatest pleasure was spending time with her family, friends, and grandchildren.
Rosie was the mother of Derek O’Connor and his wife Lisa of Braintree and Wendi (O’Connor) Warner and her husband Tom of East Bridgewater. She was the proud Grammie to Aydan, Evan, Ava, Austin and Owen O’Connor, all of Braintree. Rosie was also the sister of Peter C. Akeke and his wife Donna of Middleboro, Cindy Lynn “KiKi” Akeke of Myrtle Beach, SC and the late Martin T. Akeke. She is also survived by close cousin George Sebilian and his wife Sharon Einstein of Brockton, along with several other cousins, nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be Wednesday February 12, 2025 at the Conley Funeral Home 138 Belmont St. Brockton from 3-6 p.m. concluding with a service from Fr. Christian of St. Theresa’s Church. Burial will be in the Spring at Calvary Cemetery.
