Obituary

Barbara Jane Wallace, 86, of Londonderry, NH, passed away Saturday, February 1, 2025, in her home surrounded by loved ones. She was born on September 13, 1938, in Winchester, MA, a daughter of the late Elmer and Gertrude (Winn) Dearborn.

Barbara will be lovingly remembered for her generosity, unwavering devotion and was the first to pitch in and lend a helping hand to those in need. Even though raising her children was her greatest accomplishment, Barbara possessed an extraordinary gift to create beautiful masterpieces; most notably was her cake baking and decorating skills, which she eventually turned into a business. She also tackled other crafts resulting in unique and treasurable keepsakes. Barbara has had several rewarding career opportunities and engaged in her community as a lifelong member of the Londonderry Grange and the Londonderry Presbyterian Church, fostering many friendships along the way.

Barbara’s greatest joys were spending time with her family, hosting cookouts, birthday parties and game day extravaganzas; especially the more intimate matches of Scrabble, where she maintained her status as “Scrabble Queen”, along with her culinary skills, she also enjoyed reading. Her legacy is one of unyielding kindness and generosity and will be sadly missed by all.

She is survived by her son, Brian Wallace and his wife Jeanne; two daughters, Susan Wallace, and Cindy Doyle and her husband Terry; five grandchildren, Jeffrey Doyle and his wife Lisa, Craig Doyle, Katie Doyle, Sean Wallace and his wife Mia, and Lauren Dawson and her husband Ryan; seven great-grandchildren, Clover and Finnigan Kowalczyk, Griffin and Emerson Doyle, Sarah and Harper Wallace, and Hallie Dawson; her brother, Laurence Dearborn, and her sister, Linda Campbell, as well as several nieces, nephews, and extended family members.

Barbara was predeceased by her loving husband of 66 years, Henry P. Wallace; and her two sisters, Virginia Towle and Dale Watts and brother Elmer “Sonny” Dearborn Jr.

Following cremation, services will be held at the Londonderry Presbyterian Church on April 26, 2025, at 10:00am followed by the interment at Pleasant View Cemetery, and returning to the church for a luncheon upstairs for all wishing to attend. The Peabody Funeral Homes & Crematorium, 15 Birch St., Derry, NH is assisting the family with arrangements. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Amedisys Foundation, 8 Commerce Drive Suite #101, Bedford NH 03110.
