CHICOPEE – Mathew Robert O’Donnell, 46, of Chicopee, was Called Safely Home on Saturday, February 1, 2025. He passed into Eternal Life at Hartford Hospital surrounded by the care and comfort of his loving family. He was born in Springfield on July 23, 1978, a beloved son of Denise J. (Beaudry) O’Donnell of Chicopee and the late Robert M. O’Donnell. He lived his early years in Holyoke and was educated in Chicopee where he lived for most of his life. He was a cook for many years at the former Bridge Café in Chicopee. Mathew enjoyed playing golf and cheering on the New England sports teams with his twin brother, Ryan. Most of all, he devoted his time and gave all of his love to his cherished daughter, Madelyn. In addition to his mother, he leaves his cherished daughter, Madelyn Nicole O’Donnell of West Springfield; his twin brother and best friend, Ryan M. O’Donnell of Chicopee; his loving and “favorite” sister, Amy R. Fields and her husband, Steven, of Chicopee; his beloved nephew, Colin Chechile; his two beloved nieces, Hannah and Norah Fields; his three dear aunts, Marcelle Bastien of Chicopee, Sister Susan Beaudry of the Sisters of the Presentation in Manchester, NH, and Louise Tyndall and her husband, Robert, of Norristown, PA; his dear uncle, Michael Beaudry and his wife, Kimberly, of Belchertown; and his many dear cousins, numerous friends, and extended family members. The family would like to thank the incredible staff at Hartford Hospital in the Bliss Building for the care and compassion they gave to Mathew. His family will receive friends on Saturday, February 15, 2025 from 2:00 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. followed by a Prayer Service at 3:30 p.m. at the St. Pierre-Phaneuf Aldenville Chapels, (413-532-9806), 13 Dale Street, Chicopee, MA 01020. The parking lot and main entrance of the funeral home are located in the rear at 20 Lafayette Street, Chicopee, MA 01020. His Burial will be private.
