Marie Ann (Lapierre) Teal, of Malden, died peacefully at home on February 1st at the age of 89.
She was the beloved wife of the late Emerson R. Teal Jr., with whom she shared 59 years of marriage before his passing in 2017. Marie was a devoted mother to John Teal of Saugus, Emerson R. Teal III and his wife Maureen of Malden, Michael Teal and his wife Patricia of Billerica, Marc Teal and his wife Jayne of Pelham, Patricia Tramondozzi and her husband Stephen of Malden, and Peter Teal and his wife Karen of Ottawa, Canada.
Marie was a proud and loving grandmother to 15 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren. She was also the dear sister of Nancy Ulbin, Susan Lapierre-Jones, Bruce Lapierre, and the late Thomas Lapierre, and is survived by many nieces and nephews.
Born in Haverhill and raised in Medford, Marie graduated from Medford High School in 1953. She married Emerson in 1957, and together they raised their family in Malden. Marie worked for the City of Malden School Department for many years before retiring in 1997.
A woman of many interests, Marie loved quilting, reading, and playing her slot games on her iPad. She also never missed a Celtics game, and her enthusiasm for the team was infectious. Above all, her family was her greatest joy.
Marie’s life will be celebrated with visitation on Wednesday, February 5th at the Breslin Funeral Home, 610 Pleasant St., Malden from 4-7 PM. Her Funeral Mass will be celebrated at Immaculate Conception Church, 600 Pleasant St., Malden on Thursday February 6th at 10 AM. Please go directly to the church. Services will conclude with interment in Forest Dale Cemetery in Malden.
