Patricia A. (Sweeney) Caswell, age 83, a longtime Tewksbury resident, passed away at her home in the care of her family and hospice on Friday, January 31, 2025.
She was the beloved wife of Russell H. Caswell with whom she celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary on September 3, 2024.
Born in Lowell on April 25, 1941, she was the daughter of the late William J. Sweeney and the late Mildred I. (Morris) Sweeney. Patricia was raised in Tewksbury and graduated from Tewksbury Memorial High School in 1959.
Nan, as everyone called her because whether you were blood or not, to her, you were family — lived life with an open heart and a joyful spirit. She cherished every moment at the family camp in New Hampshire, where she found pure happiness boating, water skiing, or getting lost in a good book, barefoot on the beach. Her competitive streak came alive on the tennis court at the former North Meadow Tennis Club, and she loved reminiscing about her days as a high school cheerleader sharing stories with her grandkids.
Her adventurous heart led her to explore in the family motorhome or zip through snowy trails with Russ on their snowmobile. Lunch with her girls was always filled with laughter, and nothing made her smile more than cruising with Russ in his beloved Hot Rod. With the songs of Toby Keith and Elvis Presley as her life’s soundtrack, she lived each day to the fullest, cherishing every adventure, every tune, and, most of all, every moment with the people she loved.
In addition to her husband, family members include her children, Julie A. Gath and her husband David Gath, Jr., and Joseph R. “J” Caswell and his wife Kristin, all of Tewksbury, and the late Natalie J. Caswell: three grandchildren, Kristen Gath, of Cavendish, VT, Stephanie Gath-Winn and her husband Peter, of Tewksbury, and Emma Caswell, of Tewksbury: one great granddaughter, Cali Winn, of Tewksbury. She was the sister of the late Mildred “Billie” Palmisano and her surviving husband Gaetano, of Port Charlotte, FL and Carol M. Touzet and her late husband Americo “Bob” Touzet, of Salem, NH. Patricia leaves many nieces, nephews, extended family members and dear friends including Josie Connor, of Tewksbury.
Family and friends are invited to her Funeral Mass on Wednesday, February 5th, at 11:30 a.m. at St. William’s Church, 1351 Main Street, Route 38, Tewksbury, followed by interment services at Tewksbury Cemetery. At the request of her family, there are No Calling hours.
