Freddie E. James
November 26, 1929 – January 27, 2025
Freddie E. James, 95, of Anderson passed away on January 27, 2025 at Rawlin’s House in Pendleton following an extended illness.
He was born on November 26, 1929 in Flemingsburg, Kentucky to the late John and Lola James. He moved to Anderson in 1934 and graduated from Anderson High School in the class of 1948. He joined the United States Navy in September 1948 and served during the Korean War when he was honorable discharged in September of 1952.
He worked at Delco Remy in skill trades for 40 ½ years. He was a member of East Side Church of God for 46 years and Unity Church since 2003. He was a former member of the Elks Lodge. He was an avid fisherman and hunter with his beagle dogs. He enjoyed monthly retiree breakfasts with his men’s group.
He is survived by his two daughters, Judy Adams of Fishers and Diane Eytchison of Anderson; five grandchildren, Aaron (Sarah) Gustin of Lafayette, Amanda (Dan) Strawser of Pendleton, Misty (Jeremy) Adams, Jeremy Medley and B.J. Sawyer all of Anderson; 11 great-grandchildren, four great-great grandchildren, several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Carol James in 1998; three brothers, John James Jr., Ed James and Bill James; two sisters, Joy Brock and an infant sister.
Funeral service will be at 2:00pm on Wednesday, February 5, 2025 at Rozelle-Johnson Funeral Service with Jim Tallman officiating. Burial will follow at East Maplewood Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 1:00-2:00pm on Wednesday at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be given to Riley Hospital for Children.
