Obituary

George William Burns, 94, of Lithonia, Georgia, died Thursday, January 30, 2025, at the Brightmoor Hospice House of Conyers, Georgia.

Graveside services will be held 4 PM, Sunday, February 2, 2025, at the Spring Hill Cemetery in Irwin County, with the Rev. Pete Maddix officiating.

Mr. Burns was born February 14, 1930, in Grandin, Florida, to the late John and Lottie Clark Burns. Mr. Burns grew up in Atlanta and loved listening to music and visiting friends and family. He loved helping others, as well as fixing and piddling on things, playing the lotto and taking care of animals. He served his country honorably in the United States Army, during the Korean War. He was of the Baptist faith.

He is survived by two daughters: Caron Knight & Rickey of Tucker, Georgia, and Linda Clay & Bobby of Seymour, Tennessee; grandchildren: Megan Knight, Hannah Knight, Trish Clay and Leslie Clay; a sister, Audrey Goldman of Lincolnton, Georgia; a brother, Bobby Burns of Cairo, Georgia; several nieces and nephews also survive. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Faye Harris Burns; a sister, Thelma Fouche; a brother, John Thomas Burns, Jr.; and a half-sister, Johnnie Manley.

Paulk Funeral Home, Ocilla, is in charge of arrangements.
