Dorothy H. (Michalski) Benben Thibault, age 87 departed from this life on January 28, 2025 at the Arbors of Chicopee surrounded by her loving children. Her battle with serious medical issues in recent years showed her courage in facing life challenges with a smile. She was born in Holyoke, MA, the daughter of the late Albert and Helen (Hudzik) Michalski. She was educated at Mater Dolorosa and So Hadley High School. Dorothy most recently was employed at the Lucky Strike restaurant in Chicopee. She also worked at the Prudential Insurance Co before the arrival of her family. Dorothy volunteered at the Willimansett West Nursing Home and was an active member of the Chicopee Senior Center and performed with the Swinging Singing Seniors. She put her career on hold to raise her children. She was a wonderful mother who was always there for her 4 children, offering support, wisdom and love in abundance. She was a friend to many, leaving behind a legacy of kindness and strength. Most of all she was a devoted mother, wife, daughter, sister, grandmother and aunt. She was predeceased by her beloved husband and best friend, Roger Thibault who was called home May 11, 2018 after 45 years together. Dorothy leaves her loving children, David Benben and wife Terri of Ft. Lauderdale, FL, Mary Benben of Ontario, CA, Carol Grincavitch and husband Gary of Southampton, MA and Cathleen Benben of Granby, MA, her brother Ronald Michalski and wife Ann of Wilbraham, MA, one grandson Michael Benben, nephews Brian and Kevin Michalski, and 3 step-children, Yvonne Ghazarian, Debra Couture and Pauline Picard. On behalf of our mother Dorothy, a special thank you to all of the staff at the Arbors of Chicopee for the kindness, loving care and friendship so freely given to Dorothy. You went beyond what anyone could ever ask. On behalf of our mother, we send our heartfelt thanks for the excellent care given by Hospice Life Care. She enjoyed visiting with Hospice team members. You all made her last days comfortable and peaceful and we are forever grateful. Visitation will be one hour at the Grise Funeral Home, 280 Springfield St. Chicopee, MA on Tuesday, February 4 from 9 to10AM and conclude with a Funeral Home Service at Grise Funeral Home followed by burial services at Mater Dolorosa Cemetery.
