Thomas Martin Williams was born Feb 17, 1931 in Olean NY to Charles E & Helen (Fitzsimmons) Williams. After graduating high school, he served in the Army. Tom was stationed in Germany during the Korean War. After being discharged, he attended the RCI Institute, Rochester Institute of Technology & the University of Rochester. Tom settled in Brockport NY for a time with his first wife and 2 sons, Pete and Paul.
After a divorce, Tom moved around a bit doing a variety of jobs. He eventually met Frances (Bower) while they both worked at Stromberg Carlson. They married in 1967 and settled in Darien CT, where they lived for 50+ years and raised their daughter Karen. Tom worked at United Engineers, was active in the Stamford Kiwanis Club, and enjoyed the Darien Boat Club – where he served as Commodore. He also worked with his wife to start a business in town, Executive Secretarial & Printing.
After retiring, Tom became active at the Darien Senior Center, as well as creating another business, Your Car Driving Service. He loved woodworking & staying busy. He also enjoyed playing cribbage and poker with his friends.
In 2023 Tom moved to Londonderry NH with his daughter & her family.
He passed away on Jan 29, 2025 with family at his side, at Bedford Hills Center in Bedford NH.
Tom is survived by his sons, Pete (Dori) Williams of Spokane WA and Paul Williams of Seattle WA, his daughter Karen (Greg) Bottenhorn of Londonderry NH, nephew Martin Siegrist of Rochester NY and 6 grandchildren – Collin, Courtney, Hope, Noah, Matthew & Elliot, as well as 2 great-grandchildren.
He was pre-deceased by Fran in 2017 as well as his parents, and his siblings; Chuck Williams of Lafayette LA, Mary (George) Siegrist of St. Augustine FL & Jerry (Pat) Williams of Cuba NY.
In lieu of flowers, any donations can be made to the American Cancer Society in Fran’s memory.
