Topsfield
Norman R. Belanger, 82, a resident of Topsfield, passed away on Tuesday, January 28th following a short battle with cancer. He was the loving husband of Virginia O. (Waldron) with whom he shared 61 years of marriage.
Born and raised in Salem, he was the son of the late Roger E. and Lorraine D. (LaBrie) Belanger. Norman was a graduate of Salem High School, Class of ’59, and a graduate of Beverly Trade School. He started his career at USM Corp of Beverly, following in his father’s footsteps in the surface grinding dept and eventually moving up to the A 2 Engineering Dept, while taking courses at Northeastern and U Mass Lowell. He later was employed as machine shop foreman at Thermo Electron, Dynamic Research and GTE Sylvania, Loring Ave.
Norman ended his career at Evans Industries of Topsfield where he made many long term friends. His most recent and rewarding employment was being called upon, after ten years of retirement, to train and pass on his knowledge in machine building and metal working to a younger generation at UMG Corporation of Danvers. Once again, he received the respect, love and support in his time of need.
Norman is survived by his loving wife, Virginia, his son Paul N. Belanger and wife Carol D. of Ipswich, , grandson, Timothy Walsh, Granddaughter Kelly Pothier and husband Ryan, as well as great-granddaughters, Savannah & Paisley Pothier of Peabody. He also leaves his Sister Priscilla O’Donnell and many nieces and nephews He was predeceased by his daughter Sharon L. Walsh and her husband Robert Walsh, and his sister, Arlene Thomson .
Family and friends are invited to a visitation on Monday, February 3, 2025 from 9:30 to 10:45 A.M., followed by his Funeral Service at 11:00 A.M. at the Levesque Funeral Home, 163 Lafayette St. [Route 114 / 1-A] Salem.
