Allan Raymond Main, age 76, a former longtime Tewksbury resident, recently of Londonderry, NH, passed away at the Elliot Hospital in Manchester, NH on Wednesday, January 29, 2025, following a lengthy illness.
He was the beloved husband of Elizabeth T. (Ward) Main, who passed away on July 24, 2019.
Born in Portland, Maine on January 20, 1949, he was the son of the late Allan R. Main and the late Florence I. (Hopkins) Main.
Allan grew up in Stoneham, MA, and graduated from Stoneham High School.
In 1968, he was drafted into the U.S. Army and served during the Vietnam War. He was awarded several decorations for his active-duty service including the National Defense Service Medal, the Vietnam Service Medal, the Vietnam Campaign Medal and the Good Conduct Medal.
Prior to his retirement, he was employed as a truck driver for the Homan Transportation Company, where he worked for over 20 years.
He is survived by his five children, Christopher A. Main, of Tewksbury, Laura B. Bartlett and her husband George, of Londonderry, NH, Cheryl A. Main and her husband Eric Marklis, of North Andover, Katherine M. Main, of Chelsea, and Deborah L. McNaughton and her husband Robert, of Winchendon: his grandchildren, Juliana, Brooklyn, Briele, Tayah, Mason, Zachary, Brennan, and Madison as well as his great granddaughter, Calaya. Allan was the brother of the late Richard A. Main.
Services for Allan will be held privately. Interment will be at the Massachusetts National Cemetery in Bourne, MA. Those who wish may make a donation in his memory to Clear Path for Veterans New England at www.clearpathne.org
