On January 24, 2025, Yenifer Soralla Matias Calmo passed away peacefully at the young age of 20 surrounded by her loved ones after a battle with Liver Failure, leaving behind a legacy of love, laughter, and an endless void in our lives.
She was a resident of Everett but resided in Medford, Mass for the last remaining year of her life. She is survived by her mother Zoila Calmo, her older brothers Jorge Calmo, Nery Matias Calmo, and her younger sister Valeria Matias Calmo. From a young age, Yenifer aspired to be an Architect and a Designer. Yenifer was a bright and creative soul who found joy in the little things—building intricate Lego sets, solving puzzles, and bringing life back to anything broken, whether it was electronics or something that simply needed her touch.
Music was her heartbeat, and she found comfort in the voices of Rauw Alejandro, Bad Bunny, Young Miko, etc. From a young age, her favorite movie was Ratatouille, later was Spirited Away, and her favorite character was Haikyu. She loved Pokémon and anime, which inspired her tattoos.
Yenifer’s love for fashion and hair was an expression of her vibrant personality, always reflecting the beauty she carried within. Her two beloved cats, Kiwi and Sponchy, were her constant companions, bringing her comfort and warmth. Her favorite tree was the cherry blossom, a symbol of fleeting beauty and cherished moments, much like the impact she left on those who knew her. It was a special tree shared by her and her father.
An adventurous spirit, she loved to travel, embracing new experiences with an open heart. Her faith in God guided her through life, and she found strength in her beliefs. Yenifer adored her friends and family especially those in Target, always lifting them with her kindness and laughter. She had a passion for baking cakes like the ones she saw in her favorite movies.
Yenifer was such an essential part of our lives. She adored her family here and in Guatemala & Mexico. That is why her final resting place will be in Guatemala, where she will be with her father—her best friend—who also passed away not too long ago.
Wake services will be held for Yenifer at Casper Funeral & Cremation Services, 187 Dorchester Street, South Boston on Saturday, February 1st from 3 PM to 5 PM. In her honor, please consider donating to her GoFundMe Donate Here to help with funeral and medical expenses.
