Joan S. (Marshall) LeBlanc, 88, of Franklin, passed away peacefully on Monday, January 27, 2025, at her home surrounded by her family. She was the beloved wife of Robert J. LeBlanc, Sr. for the past 67 years.
Born on April 8, 1936, she was the daughter of the late John Stuart “Stu” and Mary (Aldred) Marshall.
Joan grew up in Arlington MA, moving to Waltham in her senior year of high school. She and Bob were set up on a blind date by her best friend Jean (Mattson) Jordan and Bob’s best friend Brad Jordan. They were married on May 4, 1957. They bought a house in Medway next door to the Jordan’s, and this is where they raised their family until moving to Franklin in 1995.
When the children were in school, she worked at the North School Cafeteria in Medway and then on to the Medway High School Cafeteria. She worked for several years at Gamewell Corporation until retirement in 1990.
Joan made friends everywhere she went, even waiting in line at Fernandes Supermarket. Everyone would recognize her laugh. After having a stroke 20 years ago she had a great circle of friends from working at Medway High School who would come to visit her frequently. She loved to travel with Bob to Italy, Ireland, Aruba, Mexico and several cruises to the Caribbean. They enjoyed wintering in Florida for many years.
She was a devoted mother to her children and always loved time with grandchildren and most recently her great grandson. She was involved in Catholic daughters at St. Joseph’s Church in Medway, was on a bowling league, Newcomer’s Club in Medway and enjoyed attending Prayer meeting at St. Joseph’s Church. She attended St. Mary’s in Holliston at the Saturday evening 7:30 p.m. Mass weekly until she was no longer able to. Joan was a devout Catholic and we know she is now in the arms of the Lord in heaven.
Joan’s family would like to say a special huge thank you to Julie Isaacs who was Joan’s PCA every day for almost a year. She always brought a smile to Joan’s face. We also want to thank all the staff at Old Colony Hospice and Palliative Care for their patience and kindness through this difficult time, especially Betsy Nazar and Chantell Hall, her primary nurse and HHA, who were so caring and gentle with all of us.
Besides her husband, she is survived by her son, Robert LeBlanc Jr. and his wife DeAnn of Albany, NH, two daughters, Cheryl Begley and her husband Jim of Bellingham and Susan Mugford and her partner Michael Kenny of Franklin.
She is also survived by her grandchildren, Nicole and Nicolas LeBlanc, James Mugford and his fiancée Jess Walsh, Melissa Ann Begley, Karlie Butters and her husband Josh, Matthew Mugford, Jonathan Mugford and his fiancée Krystle Armand, Daniel Begley and his fiancée Bailey James, Kristina LeBlanc and Robert LeBlanc, III, and one great grandson Edward James “EJ” Mugford.
Joan is also survived by her sister-in-law Barbara Peltier, her niece Sandra Anderson, both or Waltham, and was the sister of the late Gloria Doiron.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend her funeral Mass at St. Mary’s Church in Holliston on Tuesday, February 4th at 11 a.m. Burial will follow at St. Mary’s Cemetery in Franklin.
