Obituary

Sherry Waldron
January 10, 1949 – January 28, 2025

PARSONSFIELD- Sherry Waldron, beloved wife, sister, cousin, mother, grandmother, and educator, passed away on January 28th, 2025. She finished her courageous journey with cancer with her loving husband, Richard, by her side and with the compassionate care of Northern Light Hospice and Maine Cancer Specialists in the comfort of her home.

She arrived into this world on January 10th, 1949 to William and Dorothy Burrows as the eldest of three daughters. Born in Portland, Maine, she and her two sisters spent their summers on the coast which gave her a special love for the ocean.

A dedicated educator and a lifelong learner, Sherry earned her bachelor’s degree in secondary education from the University of Southern Maine, later continuing her studies to earn a master's degree in literacy and advanced certificates in gifted and talented education. She taught students all across Maine. A passionate advocate for her students, Sherry poured her heart into her work, often going above and beyond to ensure her students’ success and well-being.

In addition to her career as a teacher, Sherry was deeply involved in her community. She served in various capacities in the United Methodist Church, the 21 Club and local events. An avid gardener, she found joy in watching things grow, being outdoors, and immersing herself in nature where she always felt a deep connection to God. Being a voracious reader all her life, she devoured books regularly and when her eyes were failing later in life, she discovered audiobooks. Her love for history led her to volunteer at the Willowbrook Museum, where she enjoyed bringing the past to life.

She lived life to the fullest, embracing new adventures, including cross-country skiing, watercolor painting and digital photography in her later years. She recently discovered a love for K-Pop (Korean pop music) and exemplified the phrase live, laugh, love.

Sherry’s greatest joys were her family—her devoted husband, companion and best friend of 55 years, Richard, her two children, and her grandchildren.

Sherry was predeceased by her parents, William and Dorothy Burrows, her grandparents, and her beloved sister, Patty. She is survived by her devoted husband, Richard; her cherished sister, Norma; her two children; her grandchildren; and a wide circle of extended family and friends.

A celebration of Sherry’s life will be held on Saturday, February 8th, 2025, at 1pm at Riverside United Methodist Church in Porter, Maine.
