SCARBOROUGH- Joan Meredith (Troupe) Doughty 87, of Scarborough, Maine and a longtime resident of Scituate, Massachusetts passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family on January 27, 2025.
Born on April 14, 1937 in Quincy, Massachusetts, Joan was the daughter of the late Gordon & Florence (Barlow) Troupe.
She graduated from Quincy High School in 1954 and shortly after graduation, served in the United States Air Force.
Joan married the love of her life, Paul Leroy Doughty in 1957. Together, they raised three children and enjoyed a life full of adventure, love, and fun.
Joan was a devoted mother & enjoyed working as a medical secretary for thirty-five years while raising her family in Scituate MA. She was an avid golfer and enjoyed playing golf with her husband and their many friends. She was a voracious reader of history and was proud of her Scottish heritage.
Joan had a wonderful sense of humor & a quick wit. She loved music, dancing, watching her favorite sports teams, classic films & playing card games with her special friends from the Scituate Country Club.
Joan’s kind, positive spirit, generosity, and compassion touched the lives of many. She will be deeply missed by her family, many friends, and all who knew her.
She is survived by her children Cynthia McCormack and husband Michael of Scarborough, Maine, Scott Doughty and wife Corinna of Bedford, NH; her grandchildren Taylor Seabrook and husband Ewan of Saco Maine, Michael McCormack Jr of Los Angeles, CA and Drew & Elena Doughty of Bedford, NH; and her new great grandson, Cormac (Mac) Seabrook, her sister, Carolyn Belcher of Hanover, MA and nieces.
Joan was preceded in death by her parents, husband Paul and daughter Cathy Joanne Doughty.
A celebration of Joan’s life will be held on Saturday, March 22, 2025 at 11:00am at the First Trinitarian Congregational Church, 381 Country Way, Scituate, MA. Following the service, a luncheon for family & friends.
