Brenda Kay (King) Vandergrift
August 21, 1951 – January 27, 2025
Brenda Kay (King) Vandergrift, 73, of Anderson passed away on January 27, 2025 at Community Hospital in Anderson following a brief illness.
She was born on August 21, 1951 in Crossville, Tennessee to the late Kit Columbus and Ruthie (Bilbrey) King. She graduated from Cumberland County High School.
She worked in sales at Elder-Beerman from 1987-2000. She loved watching and spending time with her grandchildren.
She is survived by her husband of 37 years, Neal Vandergrift of Anderson; three children, Tami (Shawn) Swearingen of Muncie, Jason Vandergrift of Anderson, and Christopher (Julie) Vandergrift of Fortville; a daughter-in-law, Carrie Vandever of Crossville, TN; 11 grandchildren, several great and great-great grandchildren; her mother-in-law, Ladonna Vandergrift; four sisters-in-law, Betty Jean King of Alabama, Paula King, Linda King and Karen (Alan) Hoopingarner all of Anderson; a brother-in-law, Mark (Beth) Vandergrift of Anderson; several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her son, Tony Vandever; and six brothers, Bethel King, Claudie King, Boyd King, Barney King, Roland King and Truman King.
A graveside service will be at 2:30pm on Monday, February 3, 2025 at East Maplewood Cemetery Chapel with Pastor Nathan Brosher officiating.
