MARGARET LOU (DOUGLASS) FITZGERALD of Ventura, California passed away at home, on January 24, 2025, surrounded by her loving family. MARGRET was preceded in death by her adoring husband ALAN W. FITZGERALD. She is survived by her five children, KATHLEEN (ALAN) FRENCH, MICHAEL (BRENDA) FITZGERALD, DENISE BECK, SHARON (LOU) HEBERT, JENIFER (TOM) SCARMINACH; As well as her sister GERRY DOUGLASS and brother JOSEPH DOUGLASS. MARGARET is mourned by her 14 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren, along with many, many nieces, and nephews.
She was born on March 31, 1930 in Boulder, Colorado. She graduated from Boulder High School in 1946 and followed her dreams of being a dress designer to California, where she met and married the love of her life. They settled in West Covina, California where their five children were raised. In 1970 she enrolled in college and ultimately earned her Master’s Degree in education. She spent twenty-four years teaching art, math, reading, various grades and acted as Vice Principal, at St. Christopher’s Elementary School. After she retired, she moved to Ventura where she was active in Sacred Heart Church, volunteered with many reading and literacy programs, tutoring and taught ESL. She took art classes, attended bible study and other activities.
She was deeply involved with her grandchildren and shared her love for art, cooking, and the beach with them. She was a woman of great faith and was an example of Christian love and grace to all who ever knew her.
The Visitation, will be from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. with Recitation of the Most Holy Rosary, at 7:00 p.m., will be held on Monday, February 10th. Visitation and Rosary will be held at BOYKO & REARDON TELEGRAPH ROAD MORTUARY & CREMATION, 15 Teloma Drive, Ventura. Mass for the Dead will be held on Tuesday, February 11th at Noon, at St. Christopher’s Church in West Covina. Internment immediately following at Queen of Heaven Cemetery, Rowland Heights.
