Marjorie L. Correia, 79

Dateline: Norton, MA

Marjorie L. (Gilchrist) Correia, age 79, of Norton, passed away, following a brief illness on Monday, January 27, 2025 at the Sturdy Memorial Hospital in Attleboro. She was the beloved wife of the late Anthony Correia, Jr., to whom she was wed for fifty years at the time of his death on December 3, 2020.

Born in Revere, MA on November 4, 1945, she was a loving daughter of the late George N., Sr. and Louise (Carpenter) Gilchrist.

Marji grew up in Norton and was a 1963 graduate of Norton High School. After being married and starting her own family, she returned to school, receiving an associate’s degree as a Licensed Practical Nursing from the Southeastern Regional Vocational Technical School in Easton.

A dedicated and proud homemaker to her children and late husband, Marji had been employed for the past fifty-years as an LPN for various healthcare facilities. She was a communicant of Saint Mary’s Church in Norton, who treasured the times spent with her enormous family. Marji was an avid Boston sports fan, who equally enjoyed attending her grandchildren and great grandchildren’s sporting events. Her other interests included gardening, shopping, sewing, knitting, cooking for family and spending time with her cats "Maluka" and "Reno".

She is survived by her devoted children: Susan E. Correia and her husband Christopher Lahousse of Cumberland, RI, Donna M. Oliveira and her fiancé Wade Estabrooks of Tennessee, Anthony Correia, III and his wife Ellen of Taunton, Rebecca L. Boulos and her husband David of Norton and Kristen E. Stewart and her husband John of Uxbridge. She was the cherished grandmother of Joshua, Nicholas, Brooke, Taylor, Jaime, Bridget, Adam, Alexis, Emily, Anthony, IV, Kirsten and Ella and the loving “GG” of Zoe, Cole, Cecelia, Benjamin, Maxton, Jamie, Travis, Hannah and Sunny. She was the dear sister of George N. Gilchrist, Jr. and his wife Kathy of Pawtucket, RI, Stanley P. Gilchrist and his wife Mary Ann of Cumberland, RI and the late Norma Johnson and Alan D. Gilchrist, who is survived by his wife Georgeanne Gilchrist of CT. She is also survived by her loving nieces, nephews and friends.

Relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend visiting hours on Friday, January 31st from 5:00-8:00 P.M. at the Norton Memorial Funeral Home, 19 Clapp Street (Off Route 140, Taunton Avenue) Norton.

Her Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Saturday, February 1st at 11:00 A.M. in Saint Mary’s Church, 1 Power Street, Norton. Burial will follow at the Timothy Plain Cemetery in Norton.
